dcy3: In addition to the letterbox version of the film, for the first time ever you can view How The West Was Won in Cinerama through the Smilebox simulation. I’ve shown the smilebox version of the film to several friends, and if you’ve never seen Cinerama before, it takes a little getting used to seeing a curved format on the TV. However, everyone I’ve shown this too has been blown away. Again, the restoration is so beautiful, the outdoor shots look like a contemporary film, and you wouldn’t know this film is over 45 years old. Only the indoor lighting style of the 1960s shows the film’s age.
